About Us

The Bar-Ilan Center for International Communication (CIC) is led by Prof. Eytan Gilboa, a world renowned expert in international communication and public diplomacy. This center is the only one in Israel and one of only a few around the world that pursues research, conferences, and workshops in international communications and public diplomacy. It investigates both basic and applied dimensions of areas such as soft power, media coverage, strategic planning,
evaluation, nation-branding, digital diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, NGOs and lawfare.

Most of CIC's activities are dedicated to the challenges Israel is facing in the international arena and to means which can be effectively utilized to cope with these challenges. One of the CIC's main goals is to create awareness among Israeli politicians and officials about the rising significance of international communication and public diplomacy, for the security and well-being of Israel.

CIC offers basic and advanced workshops for government and non-governmental officials who represent Israel abroad. The workshops combine content, primarily about Israel and the Middle East, and techniques. Topics include writing to the media, advocacy, media framing, media relations, nation-branding, argumentation and persuasion, political marketing, public speaking and speaking on the broadcast media, social networks and inter-cultural communication.
